Parsing the stupidity

The Internet will save us

Why anyone pays any mind to the stupid things Nobel laureates say, I will never understand.  But perhaps their stupidity can serve as opportunities for the rest of us to learn.  Nobel literature prize winner Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio said today that had the Internet been around 70 years ago, maybe Nazism and World War II would have been averted.

“Who knows, if the Internet had existed at the time, perhaps Hitler’s criminal plot would not have succeeded — ridicule might have prevented it from ever seeing the light of day,” he said.

Yes, just like ridicule of Islamic jihad on the Internet has stopped it from seeing the light of day.  Muslim terrorists aren’t using the Internet and technology today to spread their ideology and execute attacks, are they?
